NUTRITION & HEALTH PROGRAMME
Nutrition is the foundation of health. It fuels the body, strengthens
the immune system and protects against disease.
Good nutrition not only supports growth and well-being, but also prevents
and manages illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, TB and HIV.
Without proper nutrition, healthcare alone cannot restore health,
because food is medicine.

Nutrition support at Clinics
“We are improving health through access to essential nutrition at local clinics, ensuring that every patient, especially children and mothers, receives the right support for recovery and long-term wellness.”
Many people in townships and rural areas rely on public clinics as their only point of care. Integrating nutrition into clinical services addresses malnutrition, supports recovery from illnesses like TB and HIV, and promotes maternal and child health in vulnerable households.
This is why we support clinics through nutrition screening, support and education of staff and patients.

Community Nutrition Support through Community Health Workers
Taking nutrition education and support directly to the people, community health workers bridge the gap between homes and healthcare facilities, empowering families with knowledge and access to better nutrition.
With high poverty levels and limited health literacy, trusted community health workers play a vital role in teaching families how to prepare affordable nutritious meals, monitor child growth, and prevent malnutrition in households that may not always reach clinics.
We capacitate and support community health workers on nutrition and disease, such that they effectively support the communities they serve.

Nutrition Support for ECDs and Primary Schools
“Building brighter futures through nutrition in early childhood development centres and primary schools, healthy meals mean stronger bodies, sharper minds, and improved learning outcomes.
Many children in Inanda go to school hungry. School and ECD nutrition programs provide the only reliable meal of the day for some, ensuring that learners can focus, grow, and break the cycle of poverty through education.
This is why we educate and train the staff that prepare the food at ECD Centres and Primary Schools in Inanda.

Vegetable Gardens support
We are improving health and resilience one garden at a time, as well as empowering families and communities to fight hunger, and build sustainable food security.
Unemployment and poverty limit access to nutritious food. Household and communal gardens give families direct access to fresh vegetables, reduce reliance on costly shop-bought food, and foster self-reliance and community solidarity.
As such we support communities and interested households to establish vegetable gardens, with the help of our partners.
